
Contacts may be imported into either of Advocate's contact databases from Microsoft Outlook. Records may be selected individually for import or the entire contents of the Outlook Contact folder may be imported. To begin the import, select the Outlook Command button at the bottom of either contact database screen. An import options dialog will appear offering a number of choices:

In this example, we will import a select number of records from Outlook, picking and choosing just the ones we want. We have selected the third radio button Import Selected Outlook Contacts for this example. Once a connection has been established with Outlook and its default contacts folder, a selection dialog will appear listing our choices to import. (Note: Advocate can only import those contacts which are in the Outlook default contacts folder. Other contacts will have to be moved or copied to this folder in order to import into Advocate.)

Clicking the contact's name marks that contact for importing into Advocate. Once all of the contacts you wish to import have been selected in this manner, press the OK button to begin the importing process. This could take considerable time depending on how many contacts you have in Outlook and how many you have marked to import.

In this example, select the fourth radio button labeled Import All Outlook Contacts. Press OK to begin the importing process. If you have several hundred contacts, this may take several minutes to complete. A progress bar will show the overall progress in the import process.
